After declaring he was having a tough year on Saturday evening, Paul Zukosky
claimed his first win of the 2007 tournament season on Sunday. He only
needed three fish to finish on top; however, one of those three fish,
weighing 4.92 lbs, claimed the big bass pot for the day. Two of Paul’s fish
were caught on a top water frog around grass & lily pads (one in the morning
& one in the afternoon), while the third came in the middle of the day on a
wacky worm. Paul swept the payouts by combining with his partner, to finish
with the heavy stringer of the day as well. His total winnings for the day
were $522.00, which include 1st place ($327.00), Big Bass Pot
($130.00), and ˝ the heavy stringer pot ($65.00). But as if his fishing was
not enough, Paul’s winnings carried over to the free entry drawing where he
was randomly chosen to receive a free entry to the next tournament.
Despite weighing the most fish caught on Sunday, Kyle Norrod could only
manage a second place finish on Lake “o the Pines. Kyle utilized a Yo-Zuri
style holographic shad colored rattle trap while fishing “up the river” in
relatively shallow water to catch all his keepers. He received $213.00 for
second place.
Weighing in 5.05lbs to finish in third Place was Robert Hargrove. Robert’s
never quit attitude earned him a 3.69lb fish on the ever famous C-n-S rig
with less than 15 minutes to go in the day otherwise he would have went home
empty handed. Instead he was paid $123.00 for his efforts.
Wally Hughey finished in the fourth position weighing the 2nd
largest fish of the day, a 4.03 lb large mouth. He caught the fish on a top
water frog while fishing around vegetation. He received $90.00.
In
the final money spot, 5th place, Mike Hughs, weighed 2 fish for
3.78 lbs. His fish were caught on a wacky rig & a top water frog in similar
fashion to his Partner, the 1st place finisher. Mike took home
the other half of the heavy boat pot, & the 5th place check for a
total of $131.00.
Finally after a hard day of catching only 2 keeper fish and weighing
3.50lbs, Neverwinter Lures CEO Joey Deans was able to finish in the 1st
place out of the money spot, earning himself a nice tackle pack complete
with his very own Spitfire Jigs.
