While there were no over 24” fish caught this past Sunday on Lake Fork,
there were plenty of fish caught. Leading the way was Brannon Long, who
brought a 5 fish limit weighing 8.69lbs to the scales on his way to sweeping
the entire payout. He caught all of his fish on a topwater, “spook” style
bait throughout the day. Brannon took home the 1st place prize
money, $375.00, Big Bass honors for $170.00, and heavy stringer total for
$170.00.
Mr.
Coy Frazier finished in the second position with another 5 fish limit
weighing 8.07 lbs. His fish were caught in deep water on structure, while
c-rigging a centipede. He earned $208.00.
Finishing in 3rd place, and securing his 1st Century
Bass Club Angler of the Year Title, Randy Conover weighed 5 fish for 7.83.
Randy caught his fish on Lucky Craft crank bait in about 6 to 8 ft of
water. Randy was paid a $160.00 prize.
Robert Hargrove, who ended up only 2 points behind Randy in the AOY
standings, brought 5 fish for 6.57lbs to the scale which was good enough for
4th place. Robert’s fish were caught as he usually catches them…
Chicken-rig… $118.00 was the 4th place prize amount.
Fifth Place was awarded to a guest, Wes Siranekkul. His 4 fish were caught
on a Yozuri Rattlin Vibe in a Ghost minnow color in less than 6 ft of
water. He received $86.00 for his performance.
The
final money spot was paid to Dan Phifer, who’s 4 fish weighing 4.39 lbs was
just enough to grab the $64.00 payout for 6th place. Dan almost
pulled out a complete victory with a 23 ½” fish weighing at least over 7lbs
caught in the late afternoon, but alas, the over 24” slot rule strikes
again. His fish were caught on a Drop shot, red bug finesse worm trailer,
in about 15 ft of water. The first out of the money winner of a tackle
pack was Philip Webb, his 3 fish for 4.12 was enough to beat out Danny
Yates’s 4.09lbs.
