Walker Struts to victory at Sandlin
Tournament Lake: Bob Sandlin Tournament Hours: 6:25 am - 3:00 pm
Temperatures: Low 51 – High 63 Conditions: Cloudy / Wind / Rain
Sunday was a day of rain, wind and lots of fish for Century Bass Club anglers on Lake Bob Sandlin.
Johnny Walker walks on water to win at Lake Bob Sandlin. With over one half inch of rain on Sunday, Johnny manages to find fish with a swim bait and a spinner bait. Come to find out, the spinner bait he used was from a “tackle pack” he won at our monthly meeting. He targeted shoreline cover with both baits to secure his five fish limit. His stringer of bass topped the scales at 15.24lbs. Johnny cashes in for $330 for his 1st place victory.
John Harshbarger comes in a close 2nd place behind Johnny with 15.05lbs. John caught all his keepers on main lake points with Sinko’s in shallow water to win $236.
Dan Phifer finished in 3nd place winning $142. Dan pre-fished on Saturday and found a color that bed fish couldn’t resist. After almost running out of these baits the day before the tournament, he traveled all the way to Paris,TX to reload. Ready for Sunday, Dan used this bait to catch his five keepers weighing 14.49lbs. Ernie Jordan also contributes to the team effort of heavy boat stringer totaling 21.49lbs to take home $75 each. That should cover Ernie’s loses at the poker table on Saturday night with fellow Century club members…
Tommy Yates was .07 ounces behind Dan to secure 4th place. Tommy focused his efforts on flipping shallow vegetation to fill his limit and then culled 4 times to bag 14.92lbs. He pocketed $104 for his persistence.
Jeff Prudhomme earns a check this month bringing 5 bass to the scales weighing 12.51lbs. Jeff used his free entry from the last tournament to move up into the money… He talked the bass into striking a white spinner bait in the morning and a shakey-head in the afternoon. Congratulations on your 5th place finish banking $76.
Mark Calhoun grabs the final payday in 6th place by staying on Jeff’s heels with 5 fish tipping the scales at 12.22lbs. Mark honors Robert Hargrove while using the famous chicken-@*$& rig to catch his fish in less than 5ft of water. $57 will go in Marks wallet.
Coy Frazier received the first place out of the money award for his 12.17lb, 5 fish bag of keeper bass. He receives a free entry into the next tournament for his 7th place finish.
Danny Yates claims big bass honors with a very nice 7.69lb bass earning him $150. Danny’s fish was fooled by an 8” lizard dragged across shallow vegetation.
Keep the momentum going by attending our next Century Bass Club tournament at Lake Tyler. This is going to be a 2 day tournament that you don’t want to miss. I hope to see you at our next club meeting. Just think, you could be the lucky winner of a “tackle pack” filled with baits to claim the next victory…
