With the Weather Man calling for a 100% chance of rain, Sunday’s tournament could have been a repeat of last months successful tournament on Lake Cypress Springs; however, the sustained 25 mph winds blew any chance of that. The lake was rough and the wind was relentless. Jim Hammond earned the victory with 5 fish weighing 14.03lbs. His sack was anchored by a 7.10 Big Bass winner. He caught his fish while Flipp’n a Texas rigged green pumpkin Yum Wooly Bug around matted vegetation; however, his big bass came while Cranking a Strike King Red Eye Sexy Shad. Despite his partner’s in ability to catch a keeper, Jim’s 14.03 lbs was enough to earn the heavy boat stringer for the tournament. He was paid $340.00 for 1st, $155.00 for Big Bass, and $77.50 for half the Heavy Boat.
In Second Place, Wally Hughey weighed in a 5 fish limit for 11.10lbs. His fish were caught while dragging a Baby Brush Hog & a Zoom Fluke. He also caught fish while flipping Lake Fork Craw Tube around vegetation. His earnings for the day were $245.00.
Mr. Jon Harshbarger claimed the 3rd place position with his 4th consecutive “in the money finish” for this year. He brought 5 fish the scales that weighed 10.04 lbs. Jon’s fish were caught while flipp’n shallow vegetation with a Lake Fork Craw tube in the Fork Special color. Jon was paid $147.00.
With 5 fish weighing 8.58 after a Dead Fish penalty, Jimmy Brewer claimed the 4th place check of $107.00. His fish were caught Flipp’n a Junebug Senko around shallow vegetation.
Fifth place went to Randy Conover who was fishing a trick worm in Black with a split shot in shallow water. His 4 fish weighed 8.13lbs, and he was given $78.00.
Dusty Richards 4 fish for 8.06lbs, was .03 lbs heavy enough to earn him the 6th & final money position. He caught his fish throwing a Berkly crankbait & a jerkbait in deep water. He earned $60.00 for his effort.
The First out of the money finisher and The Tackle Pack winner was Mike Hughs with 4 fish weighing 8.03lbs.
