Dowis Carolina-Rigs His Way to 1^st on Sandlin

Details:  Date:  August 13^th, 2006.  Times:  Launch, 5:30 A.M.  Weigh-In: 2:00 P.M.  Ramp: Barefoot Bay Marina, Lake Bob Sandlin. 

Conditions:  Hot & Humid.  The low temperature was around 78, with a high near 98.  Humidity ranged between 52-60%.  Winds were S/SW at 8-11mph.  Water temps were between 83-87 degrees. 

Results:  First place:  Craig Dowis took the first place prize of $327.00 with 5 fish weighing 11.02 pounds.  Craig used a Carolina-rigged Baby Brush Hog to catch his limit, taking his second Century win of the year. 

Second place:  Wally Hughey weighed in 5 fish for a total of 10.90 pounds.  Included in his limit was this tournament’s “Big Bass”, a nice 4.85 pound fish.  Wally earned $213.00 for second and an additional $130 for “Big Bass” totaling $343.00 in winnings.  Wally’s fish were caught using a chatterbait. 

Third place:  Hameed Ghaffar took this tournament’s third place prize of $123.00 by using the combination of a Carolina-rig and a crankbait to bring his 4 fish to the scales weighing 10.60 pounds. 

Fourth place:  Club President, Nick Carroccio, brought 5 fish to the scales weighing 10.54 pounds earning this tournament’s fourth place prize of $90.  Nick caught his fish while “junk fishing”, having 11 different combinations ready for use on his front deck. 

Fifth place:  Chuck Rogers, fishing with Century as a guest, took home this tournament’s fifth place prize with 5 fish weighing 10.23 pounds.  In addition he split the “Heavy Stringer” pot with his boater of the day, Jon Harshbarger.  Chuck’s winnings totaled $130.00 having won $65.00 respectively for each prize. 

“First Place Out-Of-The-Money”:  Jon Harshbarger weighed in 5 fish for 9.09 pounds and won this tournament’s tackle pack.  Jon combines this prize with his share of the “Heavy Stringer” pot ($65.00) which was shared with his non-boater, guest Chuck Rogers. 

This Tournament’s Free Entry Drawing Prize went to Stan Bloom.
