Harshbarger closes classic with a win

21 guys qualified for the Century Bass Club Classic and 18 made the trip for their chance to claim the grand finale. No points, just championship honors. This two day tournament was voted on by the qualifiers and Bob Sandlin was the selected lake.

October is known for fall cold fronts bringing bass to a feeding frenzy to fatten up for the winter. With this in mind Jon Harshbarger opted for a square bill to crank his way to the top during the first day. He ended up with 5 keeper bass and a 6lb lead over the nearest competitor. The second day his pattern changed so he adapted and used a white swim jig to catch 4 bass and finish in first place. His grand total for 9 bass was 25.64lbs for the two days. Jon found his catch around standing shallow timer. This is the second year in a row Jon has won this title on Bob Sandlin.

Coy Frazier used just a few baits to land in 2^nd place. Buzz bait, trap, c-rig and a chatter bait caught his 9 total bass weighing 17.56lbs.

Dan Phifer junk fished his way to a limit on day one and then finished his day two limit with a Senko, Texas rig, wacky worm and a crank bait. Dan was one of only two anglers that caught a limit both days, and he finished in 3^rd place.

Fourth place went to Bill Cox for catching 4 keepers on day one and then getting his limit on day two. Bill fished a buzz bait early both days to catch a few keepers and then used a jig, both around rip rap to catch his bass totaling 14.58lbs.

        Mike Hughs was the only other angler that caught limits both days. He ended up in 5^th place with a total weight of 14.43lbs and used a c-rig, crank bait and a shaky head to lure his fish to the boat.

Mike Dysput caught a total of 4 keepers for the two days using a crank bait around rip rap for 6^th place and 9.60lbs.

Johnny Walker fished shoreline wood with a chicken rig with a fluke jr to catch his five bass. He captured 7^th place with 7.86lbs.

Paul Zukosky used two baits to catch his five keepers. 3 of them fell for a 10” blueberry worm and 1 on a buzz bait. He grabbed 8^th place with 7.75lbs.

Mark Calhoun caught 3 keeper bass on a Spit-N-Fire jig and a chicken rig. 7.13lbs was his two day total for 9^th place.

The final top spot went to Hameed Ghaffar in 10^th place. He landed 4 keeper bass using a top-water and a jerk bait early for 6.56lbs.

As for big bass, day one went to Jon Harshbarger for one going 3.74lbs and day two big bass went to Mike Dysput for bringing in one for 5.46lbs.
