Century Bass Club anglers fished Lake Tawakoni for the July bass tournament and
one guy wins two in a row…
Chad
Hensley decides to take his boat this month and it pays off. He captures his
second victory with Century Bass Club with back to back wins! Chad’s net weight
this month (15.20lbs) for his 5 bag limit was almost identical to his gross
weight last month (15.26lbs). Rumor says he caught all his bass on a crankbait
near rip rap this month. This win proves that he can win with or without his
boat. His sack of fish was good for first place and big bass of the tournament
(4.64lbs). Congrats!
A
distant second was Randy Conover with a net weight of 10.44lbs with five fish.
Randy caught his bass around boat docks with brush. His knowledge of the lake
paid off at the scales.
Dan
Phifer slides into third place again this month. He caught an equal number of
bass on top-waters in the morning and a jig around docks in the afternoon. His
limit of bass totaled 10.10lbs. With this finish, Dan still leads the Angler of
the Year points race with and without drops.
Mike
Hughs lands in fourth place with 9.86lbs. He caught his limit on a c-rig in
shallow water. He was fishing with Mike Dysput for the second month in a row and
they worked together to secure Heavy Boat Stringer for a total net weight of
19.03lbs. Congrat's for their teamwork.
Not far
behind was Mike Dysput in with 9.17lbs. He caught his bass on a top-water, jig
and c-rig. These five bass helped Dysput collect Fifth place plus, Heavy Boat
Stringer.
Jon
Harshbarger finds sixth Place for the second month in a row. Congrat's Jon for
his finish and consistency.
Wow!
Talk about hot, August is setting up to one of the hottest months on record. The
good news is we will be fishing at night to beat the heat on Lake Bob Sandlin.
Fish
Care is still very important. Please take time to review the “Fish Care info” on
our website at the top of our newsletter page. We will be having two weigh-ins
to help, but please make the effort to keep your fish in good shape. I believe
lower water temperature, high oxygen levels, and a little Catch and Release
should keep them swimming.
Even
though we are fishing at night, it will be hot. Please don’t forget to hydrate
yourself before, during and after the tournament; put on sunscreen; wear a light
or wide brimmed hat; cool off with a damp towel or douse yourself with water.
Doing these things will keep you cool and safe while catching your bass.
