Despite severe thunderstorms & extremely heavy rains throughout the day, Joey Deans was able to bring in a stout 5 fish limit weighing 17.98 lbs to claim his first Century Bass Club tournament victory yesterday on Lake Cypress Springs. Joey Caught his fish with a Texas Rigged Sweet Beaver in the Sprayed Grass color while flipping in the Alligator grass mats. The 1st Place payout was $405.00. The day saw 19 anglers weigh in 5 fish limits, and only 6 out of 38 guys did not bring fish to the scales. It was arguably the best numbers in a Century tournament in the last 5 years with 131 fish weighed in for 271.45lbs.
After finally being able to return to club tournaments, Tommy Yates claims second place with 5 fish for 14.16 lbs. He caught his fish while flipping a Lake Fork Craw Tube in Fork’s Secret Color & a Floating Lizard in Black Neon. Tommy earned $285.00 for his work.
The Third place limit & the Fourth Place limit came from the same boat, in 3rd was Mark Calhoun with 13.94lbs paying $170.00, and in 4th was Century newcomer, Danell Goodwyn with 13.61lbs paying $125.00. Both of them caught their fish on T-rigged Brush Hogs & Flukes in watermelon red fished in less than 2’ of water behind the matted vegetation. Danell was fortunate enough to land the tournament big bass with a 7.09lb Fatty that paid $180.00. Along with all that, These 2 guys were on the best quality of fish in the tournament in route to claiming the Heavy Stringer award of $90.00 each.
Craig Dowis finishing in the money for the 3rd time in as many tournaments with his 5th place finish. He had another 5 fish limit weighing 12.97lbs. His fish were caught on Green Pumpkin Flukes fished around the shallow vegetation. He was paid $90.00.
The 6th & final money place was paid to Jon Harshbarger, who is also claiming his 3rd check of the season. Jon weighed 5 fish for 12.33lbs earning $68.00. He caught his fish on a Lake Fork Craw tube in Green Pumpkin while flipping the shallow mats & vegetation.
The First out of the money finisher was Dan Phifer who weighed in 5 fish for 11.85 and he will receive the typical pat on the back and a tackle pack.
