This was
the last tournament of the regular season, and the Century Bass Club points race
for the Angler of the Year title and the Top 6 Federation Nation State
Championship team were on the line...
This
month, Johnny Walker’s hard work pre-fishing Lavon pays off. Johnny found a
pattern that held up and lead him to victory. He fished main lake cover with a
big 10” worm to land 3 fat bass weighing a total of 14.80lbs. Johnny’s biggest
bass weighed in at 6.82lbs to take Big Bass honors for the tournament. He didn’t
stop there, he and his non-boater (Jim Linderer) also took home the Heavy Boat
Stringer with a total combined weight of 25.25lbs. Johnny sweeps with 3 payouts
worth $412.50. With this win, Johnny secured the #4 spot on the Top 6 team.
Second
place went to Coy Frazier. Coy focused all his efforts on one key spot to catch
his 5 bass limit. He used a shakey head to lure these bass to the boat. 10.46lbs
was his total bass weight. Coy earns $168 for his persistence and secures the #3
spot on the Top 6 team.
Jim
Linderer caught 4 nice bass to land in fourth place. He also used a big 10” worm
around main lake cover to get his bass in the boat. 10.45lbs was Jim’s final
stringer weight, just short of jumping into third place. Keeping it close, his
big bass of the day was 4.98lbs, missing out on the 5.00lb big bass pot. Jim
gets $102 for his finish and $47.50 for his help with the Heavy Boat Stringer.
Mike
Hughs finishes in fourth place again this month. Mike’s pre-fishing also paid
off leading him to the same pattern that Johnny Walker was on (main lake cover)
fishing with a shakey head. He brought 4 keeper bass to the scales for a total
weight of 9.66lbs worth $60. Mike’s solid finish in the last two tournaments
earns him the #6 spot on the Top 6 team.
The
first place out of the money went to Dan Phifer finishing in fifth place. He
will get a free entry into the next tournament. Dan’s keeper bass were caught on
jigs around marina docks. Another close finish for Dan, only 3 points short of
taking the Angler of the Year title. He finishes the year in the #2 spot on the
Top 6 team.
Congratulations to John Harshbarger for holding on to the Angler of the Year
title for the 3rd year in a row! John will lead the Top 6 team in the
#1 spot for Century Bass Club at Lake Sam Rayburn early next year.
Finally,
I want to also recognize Ken Caldwell for earning the #5 spot on the Top 6 team.
