The reigning 2007 Century Angler of the Year, Randy Conover, Won his first tournament of the 2008 season. His 5 fish limit weighing 12.09 lbs was enough to claim the victory, and earn the $283.00 first prize. His fish were caught while dead sticking a senko over brush piles in 15 ft of water. Randy and his partner, Yarik Malyuta, were the recipients of the Heavy Stringer prize of $50.00 each for their combined total of 14.09 lbs.
Second place was taken by Mike Hughs. Mike’s 5 fish limit weighed 11.66 lbs. His fish were caught on Lake Fork Craw Tube while Flippin around the grass mats. He earned $176.00 in winnings.
After blowing away the Federation Field on Saturday with over 22lbs, Jimmy Brewer claimed the 3rd position on Sunday with only 4 fish weighing 10.25 lbs. Jimmy caught his fish on a watermelon fluke around vegetation. Jimmy was paid $107.00 for his effort.
In the 4th and final money position was Mr. Jon Harshbarger. He weighed in 5 fish for 9.29 lbs. Jon’s fish were caught flippin a Sweet Beaver in the Waterbug color around vegetation. He was paid $64.00. After Jon’s 6th finish in the money this year, Congratulations to him are in order because he will claim the Angler of the Year Title for 2008, His 4th with Century Bass Club. There is no way anyone can catch Jon next week at Tawakoni.
The Big Bass Honors go to Philip Webb. Philip caught only one keeper fish on sunday, but it weighed 7.10 lbs. This is Philip’s third Big Bass of the year, 6lbs 8oz at Stillhouse, 7lbs 10ozs during the night tournament on Ray Hubbard, and a 7.10 lbs fatty from Pines. Philip was paid $100.00 for his Toad.
